Etymology

[edit]

Possibly from Middle Low German spelt (spelt) plus the suffix -k, creating the meaning "spelt barn", which was used as a toilet in the past.

Alternatively from the unattested Middle Low German *pȫldīk (waste water pond, hole, pond of faeces, hole of faeces).

Noun

peldik (genitive peldiku, partitive peldikut)
